I got theTravelStudio today and immediately filled it with batteries, I see it came with an adaptor but I was trying to get a sense of portability so I went the battery route. I plugged it into my little Behringer powered 8 inch speaker and went throgh the menu without directions and within a minute or so, had set output, fx choice, compression, e.q. and we were off to the races. It really sounds fantastic and I know you probably meant it for use with stereo equipment or for personal listening but it really is a nifty little mixing console. There are a lot of gigs I do where I just do instrumental music and this really kind of allows me to show up with minimal gear and get the job done. I have yet to plug a mic in and when I get a little more time I will do so. So far, it’s really a great piece of gear, I will also test it’s fm transmitter as I think that might be useful for house concerts or in a restaurant setting where there is a radio patched into the speaker system.

I have been using the travel studio in various settings. I just did a gig where I used the FM transmitter section to pipe the sound over the sound system via their FM Tuner, it was excellent, people thought it was the radio until they walked by.

TravelStudio can be powered using either the supplied 6 volt AC Adapter, or by installing 4 AA batteries. Any AA battery technology can be used, either alkaline or rechargeable. You will get the most playing time using rechargeable batteries, since this technology provides the highest amp-hour rating. TravelStudio does not include battery charging circuitry so you will need to provide an external battery charger. TravelStudio will continually monitor the state of the batteries and provide a rough indicator of remaining battery life in the “Battery Level” menu. When the battery level becomes critically low, TravelStudio will prompt you with a warning message before saving all user settings and shutting down.

For uninterrupted playing time, purchase multiple sets of batteries and keep a recharged set handy at all times.

Prime Audio recommends Powerex NiMh 2700mAh Rechargeable Batteries and Maha MH-C204FA Battery Charger.

1) Connect the (included) 3.5 mm audio cable from the headphone jack on your PC to the AUDIO input of TravelStudio.

2) Connect your favorite vocal microphone to IN2 on TravelStudio. Plug in your headphones to the HEADPHONE jack on TravelStudio.

3) Turn on TravelStudio and on the first menu, recall Factory Setting FS1. This will automatically configure the inputs, outputs, and effects to give you a great sound for vocals.

4) Now from the PC, play your favorite music and sing along. Go to www.youtube.com and type in “Karaoke” in the search box. Then add your favorite songs to the search terms.

5) Adjust the volume of the accompaniment music on your PC. Adjust the volume of the microphone on TravelStudio. You can play with the effects wet/dry mix and the EQ settings until you get a sound that fits your voice and style.
